Everton Half-Time Ratings
Jordan Pickford – 9
A string of absolutely crucial saves have stopped Ollie Watkins bagging a hat trick, while also brilliantly denying other dangerous Villa efforts, to keep his side in this game.
Seamus Coleman – 6
A really energetic performance from the full back once again so far. He’s contained the threat of El Ghazi pretty well throughout and has attempted to help as much as he can getting forward too.
Ben Godfrey – 6
Has been called upon on multiple occasions to save his side after mistakes further up the pitch, but in the same vein this hasn’t been his most comfortable display in a blue shirt.
Mason Holgate – 4
Some really sloppy play allowed Watkins a chance to score, which he graciously accepted to give the visitors the lead. In general Holgate has been too sloppy in possession and not alert enough to the danger from Villa.
Lucas Digne – 7
A fantastic cross to Calvert-Lewin for the corner set up Everton’s equalising goal earns him an extra point, but Bertrand Traore is causing a lot of problems down that flank for the visitors.
Allan – 6

Typically vibrant in the centre of the pitch and constantly chasing Villa down and breaking up their play, but Ross Barkley found far too much space as the half went on.
Andre Gomes – 5
Hasn’t been composed enough in possession throughout the 45 minutes, either taking too much time and having it stolen from him or being sloppy in his passing.
Alex Iwobi – 6
A late addition to the starting line-up, Iwobi took a little bit to get going – but his defensively play down the right side in particular has been useful for the Blues.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – 6
Has seen a couple of attempted shots on goal blocked which looked as if they could have caused problems. All in all the Iceland international has been solid so far.
Richarlison – 7
It was his presence in the centre of the pitch that won Everton the corner they scored from. The Blues looked much more dangerous as soon as he came central and that’s no coincidence.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7
A typically great target-man performance from the England international so far, capped off with a fantastic header at the back post to bring Everton level.
