Gareth Bale has claimed that Tottenham are now on the front foot more under Ryan Mason than they were under Jose Mourinho, meaning Spurs can score more goals.

Bale rejoined Spurs after over seven years away last summer following a torrid time at Real Madrid during the 2019/20 campaign.

Although it took him a while to regain his fitness and work his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans, the Los Blancos winger has been impressive this year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

So far this season, Bale has scored 14 goals and recorded three assists in 30 games for Spurs, including nine goals in 16 games in the Premier League (TransferMarkt).

In Bale’s latest performance for the Lilywhites last night against Sheffield United, he scored an incredible hat-trick, including three fine finishes past Aaron Ramsdale.

It remains to be seen whether Bale will return to Spurs again next season with there still being one year left on his current Real Madrid contract.

For now, it seems as though the Welshman is enjoying his football under Ryan Mason.

When asked how his role has changed when compared to under Mourinho, Bale said (Sky Sports Main Event 02/05/21 at 21:00): “The fact that we are on the front-foot, closer to the goal and we are now able to score more.”
