Grealish sends Watkins mesage

Ollie Watkins is off the mark for England with the Aston Villa striker netting on his debut for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Watkins netted the final goal in a 5-0 win defeat of San Marino at Wembley as England kicked off their World Cup 2022 qualification campaign in style.

The Villa forward rounded off the scoring with seven minutes to go, striking from just inside the penalty area past the impressive Elia Benedettini in San Marino’s goal.

It continues an impressive season for Watkins, who has scored 12 goals in his debut campaign for Villa.

Arsenal told to go all-in for transfer

Villa captain Jack Grealish should be a target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to former Gunners defender Nigel Winterburn.

Grealish’s return from injury after the international break can’t come quickly enough for Villa, who have struggled without their talisman.

The 25-year-old has missed the last six games with a shin problem, with Villa winning just one of those, but still has six goals and 10 assists to his name in the Premier League already this season.

Having taken his game to a new level after Villa narrowly avoided relegation, Grealish is thought to be in contention for the Player of the Year award and would have been in latest the England squad were it not for the injury.
