Julian Nagelsmann sends warning to Liverpool after RB Leipzig beaten in Champions League – Liverpool Echo
Julian Nagelsmann has warned Liverpool that it’s “not impossible” for RB Leipzig to pull off a remarkable Champions League comeback next month.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane put the Reds in command of their round of 16 tie by securing a 2-0 first-leg win in Budapest on Tuesday.
While Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated possession, Leipzig struck the post early on and twice came close to scoring in the second half.
And Nagelsmann believes the Bundesliga side can defy history with only one team having previously overturned a 2-0 first-leg home defeat to progress in the European Cup.
“The big difference was they scored with their two chances and we had three big chances and weren’t clinical enough,” said the Leipzig boss.
“For the two big mistakes we committed we were punished, and at such a high level that’s normal.
“We had a good performance. The situation isn’t that easy for us in the second leg but it’s not impossible. We will give everything to make it through to the next round.
“We had the biggest chances and we have to score those. But we have conceded two away goals.
“Liverpool respected us before the game and I think they have even more respect for us now.”

Nagelsmann added: “I was very happy with the first 10 minutes, we played great pressing and won enough balls and created the first chance when hitting the post.
“Then we ran behind the ball, I have to say. We didn’t attack in the right moments. We didn’t press as well as in the beginning.
